James Money Lowcay

James Money Lowcay was born in 1825 at Portsea, Hampshire, England, and died in 1904 at Plymouth, Devon, England. He married Jane Allen Corry on 24th May 1851 at St Mary's, Portsea, Hampshire, England. She was born in 1824 at Southsea, Hampshire, England.

James followed the Plymouth Lowcay’s tradition of naval service. On 15th Feb 1841, he was appointed to the Britannia, as Admiralty clerk.

He became Paymaster on 30th January, 1851, and ultimately became Fleet Paymaster.

He is mentioned in Burkes General Armoury, 1884, as having the family Coat of Arms Confirmed.

He lived at Lipson Terrace, Plymouth. A park and road in Portsmouth are believed to be named in his honour.
